Giving to Those in NeedThe Catholic faith is summarized in the Symbol of the Apostles' Creed, the 10 Commandments (summarized by Jesus Christ in the "Two Greatest Commandments") and the Beatitudes.
Catholic social teaching is best understood as solidarity with the poor, the aged, the weak, the sick, the incarcerated and little children--in essence, the defenseless-- for Jesus said if we do not attend to the "least of these" we have not attended to Him (Matt. 25).
In seeking to do what Jesus commanded, our parish supports both local and diocesan ministries to aid "the least of these." -

The Catholic Appeal of SC is a primary source of funding to help sustain and expand ministries in the 96 parishes, 21 missions, and 34 Catholic schools and agencies throughout the Diocese of Charleston. Greater Greenwood United Ministry - provides a way for community churches to collaborate in meeting the needs of a
very vulnerable and fragile population. Through ecumenical collaboration, churches avoid duplication of services and have qualified persons investigating each individual need. - The Free Medical Clinic is the only one in Greenwood County that provides free dental services along with its free medical services.
- GGUM is the only source of free prescription medicine in the county.
- All services of GGUM are provided by volunteers, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, lab-techs, administrator, interviewers, receptionists and others.

I Care, I Share - is a ministry function of our parish. We collect food items the first weekend of the month to be delivered to the local Food Bank.

MercyWorks of the Lakelands is a qualified tax-exempt charity. Our purpose is to provide financial assistance to improve the health, welfare and education of residents of the South Carolina counties of Abbeville, Greenwood and Laurens. The board is comprised of residents of the Lakelands area who review and assess the assistance applications from our website or by phone. On our website, locate the application link for assistance. After completing and submitting the online form, they will review it and contact you. You may also call for assistance. Please leave a voicemail if necessary describing your situation.

- Auto Expenses: When an emergency hits, you shouldn’t have to worry about transportation.
- Clothing: Should the emergency require clothing, we can help.
- Medical Expenses: Unexpected medical emergencies can be a burden when funds are short.
- Living Expenses: Have peace of mind that there will be something on the table for dinner.
- Other Needs: We stand ready to assist with many kinds of needs.
